Born in Yemen and raised in Oakland CA. Nas chose to beat the odds and barriers to building within my underrepresented communities.

At 12 years old, Nas was diagnosed with Kidney/Liver Failure and started treatment immediately. Treatment would last 4 hours, 6 days a week while he waited for a Kidney/Liver Donor. After 2 years of waiting on the list, he was finally blessed to get a donor. In June 2015 he received a Kidney/Liver Transplant. Unfortunately, there was a medical error during the operation and was in a sense pronounced… “ We don't know what's the problem, we're sorry.”
His father, Jamal demanded another operation to uncover what the issue was. Finally, the second operation worked and saved his life. He is forever grateful for God and my family’s love and prayers.

During his freshman year of high school, Nas experienced extreme fargiue, and felt very weak from the procedures.  In search of strength, he stumbled upon a non-profit Boxing/Jiu Jitsu/ Muay Thai Gym for youth, called Guardian Gym, located in Oakland. He immediately fell in love with what he saw. Everyone was working hard, no matter the daily struggles they had. He met people from all walks of life. He was especially drawn to boxing. Boxing taught him to poise under pressure, and how to respond positively to adversity. The losses became lessons. Due to his medical history, he had to choose a different path rather than become a pro boxer which was his initial dream. Despite his parents and Doctors advising against it, he partook in sparring and loved every minute of it. Under the close supervision of his coach, Bilal Mahasin, he experienced authentic boxing coaching.

After high school, he paused his boxing training to help his family by working in his Father’s Supermercado. Whenever there were a few spare minutes between tasks at the store, he would still shadowbox and do push-ups - knowing that the small things add up. It was around this time that he also began Cal State University Eastbay’s Kinesiology program. As if his plate wasn’t already full, Nas also reconnected with his boxing coach, Bilal. Bilal was holding boxing classes that would certify boxers as boxing coaches. Nas jumped at the opportunity to learn under the tutelage of a pro-champion boxer and to join a community whose mission was to provide opportunities for inner-city youth to learn the art of boxing. It was here that he became a certified boxing coach.

Eventually, Nas made the tough decision to step away from the family Supermercado but attributes much of his success to what he learned from the store, and his parent's unconditional love and support. During this phase, he started to take his career very seriously and became a certified personal (NASM). Shortly after, he entered the world of Sports Performance via an internship at CSUEB, working with D2 athletes from multiple Olympic sports.

Nas paved the way for his family by being the first family member to graduate college. He currently interns with the Kissick Family and the Assistant Athletics Director of Football Sports Performance with the Stanford Cardinals. Here, he aims to expand his knowledge of sports performance by learning from the best athletes in the country. This path has also led him to become a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).

Nas loves working with Athletes, former athletes, youth athletes, rehab, and any everyday people. His past taught him that anyone has potential - and it is his purpose to help people fulfill their potential. He works through faith, hard work, effort, consistency, and self-competition to be get 1% better every day. The small things add up. He looks to understand my client’s lifestyles and who they are to be able to craft the right plan for them. He believes that to understand someone is to understand what works for them.

DAWG$ ONLY stands for anyone with faith, hard work, effort, consistency, and learning to only compete with oneself to become better than you were yesterday. DAWG$ take each day one step at a time and learn that as long as you get better each and every day is all it takes to achieve any goal in mind.
